I have been an active member of the PCOS community since my own PCOS diagnosis in 1995. Over the years, I have realized that, while there were many discussion groups and a few charities dedicated to PCOS, many of them lacked current and correct information, and none of them have fueled sufficient public awareness for such a serious health concern that affects so many women and their loved ones.
In 2011, I connected with a group of like-minded women and began discussing how to band together to increase public awareness of, and support women with, PCOS. This led to the formation of 1in10 in early 2012. By compounding on the Mission of 1in10, it is my belief that 1in10 will increase awareness of PCOS so that women can find the answers they need, get the support they deserve, connect with educated and proactive medical personnel, and learn to live happier and healthier with PCOS.

I am a 28 year Social Worker from Michigan. I am married to a wonderful and supportive man.
I wanted to help start 1in10 because I have PCOS! I know first hand the pain that it causes and frustration that continues to build. Because of PCOS I am childless for now and connecting with other families affected by PCOS gives me a sense of peace and hope!

After joining a support group full of amazing women online, a few of us decided we need to spread the word about PCOS and raise awareness and provide support nationwide. I wanted to help create an organization that would do just that. I feel passionately about spreading awareness and lending support to all communities and giving hope. I, personally, have always enjoyed writing and blogging. I hope to continue this with 1in10 and help spread a message of knowledge, support, and love. I know I was born to help and as I embrace my personal journey through PCOS, my goal is to reach out to as many women and families as I can. I have faith that one day we can make a difference!
